What do you do to advertise your site?
What are some of the things you've done (or do) to promote your site? Have they been worth doing? I used social networks a lot, especially Facebook. I also looked for people in forums I was in and PMed them some invites. I couldn't pay for Facebook ads since I don't own a credit card, though...- Wrong

Do you allow HTML editing in forum posts?
... or do you only let your users edit their posts through BBCode? I used to allow HTML until some troublesome users started messing around with the coding and would make some threads inaccessible using closing tags (like writing a post including '</body>'). There were also hackers who used... -

Google Plus
It's not really Google+ that helps, it's their "+1" buttons. You must have a Google+ account to use those, and they're said to have a great impact on SEO. -

I play the guitar, watch movies from directors all around the globe, watch TV series, take care of my dog, do things online to get some extra money and read articles. Those can all be called my 'stress releases'.- Wrong

how much do you charge per hour vs experience?
Charge what you think you deserve for the money and then give your client a price quote; if he agrees, get to work, and if he doesn't, negotiate. That's why I have done with most of my clients. I do all kinds of things (nothing sexual, only graphic design, coding and general marketing advice)...- Wrong

Illustrator or Photoshop?
Illustrator is intended to be used for vectors, whereas Photoshop can be used for a lot of things, from photo editing to creating gifs. I'd say everyone's got a different favorite depending on what graphic they need done.- Wrong

Does your site have a Facebook Page?
Title says it all. Have you made a Facebook Page for your website, to post updates, info, advertise, etc.? I created one for my site and it got up to 2,000 in a few months. I only had to place one of those "Like" buttons for pages in my site, and people just 'liked' it. That didn't mean...- Wrong

Theoretically designing a site from the ground up
I probably would start off with a default template/theme and then go from there. It'd be easier to modify things that way, and it'd also give me a clearer vision of what I wanted the site to look like. -

Agreed, browser compatibility can be a real b***h. CSS hacks are not easy to code either, it can take a looooooong while to make a site even look decent on IE 7 and 8. Most webmasters have already crossed IE 6 of their lists, since it's so terribly outdated that they don't even want to make... -

What's the most money you've spent on an ad, and what's the least money you've spent in one? I once paid a guy $100 to place a mini animated image in his site, which was quite popular. That was the most. The least was $10, which I used to pay a forum admin to place a bigger animated image in...- Wrong

Spamming
When I was just getting started with my site, I did used to spam a couple other (very popular) forums to get them signing up on mine. I always ended up getting banned and, most of the times, not that many people joined and very few actually stayed and posted. It was definitely a waste of time...- Wrong

How long did it take you to learn CSS?
I don't think I ever "mastered" CSS (there are probably many things I still don't know), but it took me about 6 months to learn most of what I needed for my website, both the basics and the more complex stuff, as well as browser compatibility stuff (e.g. webkits). -

Where did you find HTML?
I wasn't on GeoCities, but I remember having a site with a bunch of crappy Flash stuff, music, gifs, an animated cursor, thousands of images, etc. I was the worst webmaster ever. -

Adfly/CoinURL thoughts?
I've always stayed away from AdFly. It's way too annoying, and can be a real turnoff for new people visiting a site, and it doesn't even pay off well. I prefer to use other ways to get revenue.- Wrong
